This NBA Finals has been as close as any. Maybe the closest ever? I would go as far as to say so. If it ends in 7 games, which I hope it will, it will be cemented as the closest Finals in the history of the League.
How close it is?
After 4 games, the Miami Heat has an advantage of .63 points per 100 possessions. That’s how close it is.
Miami is making 89 points per game, the Dallas Mavericks has 88.2 points per game. Miami is hitting 42.8% of its field goals, Dallas, 41.8%. The Heat has 13 turnovers per game. Dallas, 13.1. The Mavs are grabbing 40 rebounds every game, Miami, 39.
So far, every game was decided in the last few shots.
The biggest story so far has been LeBron James’ vanishing trick during the 4th quarter of every game. In game 4, James only hit 3 more shots than Brian Cardinal. Also, only 3 more shots than Brian Scalabrine, who’s watching the Finals at home.
LBJ scored 8 points in the game. None in the 4th. But, what if that’s it. That’s what LeBron is about? Not the vanishing in the clutch.
But, what if he is more Magic Johnson and less Michael Jordan. What if his thing is being Scottie Pippen to Dwyane Wade’s Michael Jordan. I’m OK with that. He is playing great defense and always trying to find the right man. Still, he HAS to score more than 8 points in the Finals.
Wade. There’s nothing to say about Wade but, amazing. Little dude is all over the floor. Defense. Offense. Clutch. In the middle of the game. Whatever the Heat needs, Wade is providing.
Dirk Nowitzki won me over. Was not a big fan of the Dude. The Big Nowitzki. Honestly, Mark Cuban as an owner will make harder for me to dig your game. You done it, Dirk. Great season. Even better Finals. He wasn’t playing well. With a 102 fever. Still, reDIRKulous came through in the clutch and saved his team.
Game 5 should be more of the same. Close game. Hard fought. One big difference. LeBron will show up. Count on it.
